Nylaa Ahmad is a student of Class 11 in the government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh in Srinagar, Kashmir. She read  Keeping warm with Charar-i-Sharief kangris, a photo essay by Muzamil Bhat published in PARI in January 2020. She wanted to capture the seasonal work of the kangri makers. Nylaa says, "When I read the story, I connected with kangri makers and I wanted to show their effort to continue this tradition." Nylaa used micro pens, markers, ‘HB’ and ‘B’ pencils and a highlighter.
